Typically, common eye disorders can be broken down into major eye symptoms and blurred vision is common to many eye conditions. However, blurred vision can be a mild or a serious problem requiring prompt attention.

Risk factors for this condition include.

  • Hereditary, a family history that puts you at increased risks
  • Age over forty
  • Gender, a female is more likely to develop this condition
  • Diabetes puts you at increased risk for higher eye pressure.
  • Certain ethnic groups have a higher likelihood of developing glaucoma. African Americans are more at risk.
  • More likely are individuals who have a high rate of pressure in their eyes but anyone can be  at risk 

This disease may progress over several years and glaucoma may be diagnosed as either close angle or open angle. With glaucoma changes in vision may be gradual, going unnoticed. In due course, eyesight would be reduced.  Eventually, without treatment, eyesight will be completely lost.

Early detection through regular eye exams is the best way to maintain your vision health. Do not wait until your vision is compromised to seek eye care.

It is important to recognize that your eyesight can change at any age and typically deteriorates as you get older. As you age you tend to lose the sharpness of vision and over time will unconsciously adjust to diminished vision.
